On February 16, 2023, the Department of Biomedical Engineering organised a paper presentation competition on the theme of "Current Emerging Trends in Biomedical Applications" as a part of FIESTAA 23. There were more than ten teams participating, with two members per team. The event began at 9:00 AM at F-Block.
The paper presentation event, coordinated by Ms. Sangamithrra S. III BME, saw college students showcase their research and innovative ideas on various topics that related to the theme. The event featured more than ten topics, including a proactive measure to prevent ulcers, bioremediation, the bionic eye, a filament extruder for 3D printing from PET bottle waste, an exoskeleton for paralysed arms, and diagnostics of biomedical equipment using Python programming. The teams were evaluated by the jury members of the Biomedical Department, Dr. Rajasingam N. AP (SLG) and Mr. Krishna Kumar R. AP.
The winners of the event were announced, with Mr. Janesh and Ms. Ilakiya from KIT winning the first prize for their presentation on the bionic eye. Mr.Satish and Mr.Pradeep Ragul S from SNS won the second prize for their presentation on a proactive measure to prevent pressure ulcers. The third prize was awarded to Mr.Sakthi from DAIT for their presentation on diagnostics of biomedical equipment using Python programming.
The event provided an excellent platform for college students to exchange ideas and knowledge about the latest advancements in technology. The presentations were well-researched and informative, reflecting the students' dedication and enthusiasm. The coordination by Ms. Sangamithrra S. ensured the smooth execution of the event, and the judges' assessment was fair and impartial.
