Summary

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) organized a two-day hands-on training program on the topic ā€œAnalog IC Design Using Cadenceā€ on 13th and 14th March 2026. The primary objective of this training was to provide students with practical exposure to analog integrated circuit design using industry-standard tools.

Analog IC design plays a crucial role in modern electronic systems, and this workshop was aimed at equipping students with essential design skills and familiarity with Cadence tools widely used in the VLSI industry.

The program effectively enhanced students’ understanding of analog IC design and provided valuable practical exposure using industry-relevant tools. The training has laid a strong foundation for students aspiring to pursue careers in VLSI and semiconductor industries.

Objectives of the Training

l To introduce students to the fundamentals of analog IC design

l To provide exposure to Cadence design environment

l To enable schematic design and simulation of analog circuits

l To familiarize students with layout design and verification

l To enhance practical skills relevant to VLSI industry requirements

Day 1 (13.03.2026):

l Introduction to Analog IC Design concepts

l Overview of Cadence design tools and environment

l Schematic design of basic analog circuits (inverters, amplifiers)

l Simulation techniques and analysis (DC, AC, transient)

l Hands-on session: Design and simulation of basic circuits

Day 2(14.03.2026):

l Introduction to layout design in Cadence

l Design rules and layout techniques

l Layout of simple analog circuits

l Hands-on session: Layout implementation and validation

Outcomes of the Training

l At the end of the two-day training, participants were able to:

l Understand the fundamentals of analog IC design and CMOS technology

l Use Cadence tools for schematic design and simulation

l Design and implement layouts for basic analog circuits

l Gain practical exposure to industry-standard VLSI design tools
