The meeting with CDIIC - CODISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre, attended by Dr. Vinod Kumar, Dr. P.K. Panda (Chief Scientist & Head, Retired, Materials Science Division, CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Kodihalli, Bangalore), and Dr. B. Arulmurugan (KPRIET), explored several collaborative opportunities. Key points included an invitation to apply for the Technology Development Fund (TDF) Scheme, aimed at advancing technology readiness levels (TRL3 onwards), developing innovative defence technologies, and substituting imports with indigenous components, with a two-year development timeline and grants for industry-academia collaboration (academic involvement capped at 40%). Participants were encouraged to submit SUO MOTO proposals for uninitiated projects, praised for the successful drone show by the KPRIET ARC Club, and recommended to establish an industry for application-oriented drones with 50% financial support from CDIIC. The need for NABL accreditation for labs involved in defence projects was emphasized, along with placement opportunities for four mechanical engineering students. Attendance at the International Defence Industrial Exposition on 15th August 2024 at AF Station, Sulur, was encouraged, with a registration deadline of 9th August 2024 requiring a bonafide certificate. Membership opportunities with an annual fee of Rs. 11,800 were highlighted, and participation in the High Tech Challenge was encouraged. Additionally, Dr. P.K. Panda’s expertise was requested for developing high-equivalent materials for defence applications.
