The IEEE STEMTHEM: Three-Day Experiential Program for Pre-University Students (Electronics-Free Edition) is a transformative initiative by IEEE KPRIET Student Branch volunteers aimed at addressing high school dropout rates and supporting students transitioning from tribal lands to the education and culture of urban areas through STEM education.
Designed for 50 pre-university students aged 14 to 16, the program introduces an innovative electronics-free approach to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration using simple materials. The program emphasises gender inclusivity by forming balanced teams of boys and girls, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 & 5).
Participants engage in mentoring sessions and design thinking workshops, culminating in project presentations evaluated by juries. This initiative seeks to inspire STEM careers, reduce educational disengagement, and promote lifelong learning, embodying IEEE's mission to advance technology for humanity.
Planned for November 6-7, 2024, the event features interactive sessions with IEEE volunteers and researchers. Outcomes will be measured through project assessments, participant feedback, and project evaluations.
